DDS (Direct Digital synthesizers)

Direct digital synthesisers (DDS) use a method of producing an analog waveform—usually a sine wave—by generating a time-varying signal in digital form and then performing a digital-to-analog conversion. Because operations within a DDS device are primarily digital, it can offer high stability, fast switching between output frequencies, high frequency resolution, and operation over a broad spectrum of frequencies.
The DDS can be amplitude modulated (AM) from an external analog or digital signal. An external power amplifier can be required to generate the requested RF power level.
